Still Windmill

Img_0394

Every morning I walk Buddy the Dog 2 miles.?? And every morning??I pray, as the garage door opens, the wind will not blow me away.?? This morning was perfect, crisp and calm.?? The sunrise was beautiful and just to prove its perfection…here is a still windmill.

Weed

The school lawn across the street is completely covered with these little guys.?? It actually is sort of pretty in a weedy way.?? I really wanted to take a picture of the field but the photo didn’t do it justice.?? So I decided to try out a new perspective and this is what I got.?? Now if I could just figure out a way for these to stay across the street in their own yard!??

One-Legged Squats

4_16_10

“Mrs. Brachbill, Mrs. Brachbill! Look what Jayvin can do!”
And I was truly impressed with what Jayvin could do.

Not just once, but again and again.
Not just on one leg, but on both legs.

Did I say “over and over again”?

And not just a couple of inches down and then back up,
but all the way to the floor and back up.

Oh, and by the way, over and over and over again.

Jayvin is a wrestler, and loves everything about it.
I bet we see Jayvin wrestling someday on the “Big Ten Network”,
and if you see a “Jayvin”, and he is doing one-legged squats, you can
say you saw it here first.

The Road Home

Pulled off the road into town and snapped this picture.
Just a few more blocks, and a nap is in my very near future…

The Green Monster

Greenmonster_004

Ok.?? I admit it.?? I’m a sucker for any new type of health recipe.?? Today I stumbled upon a website called The Green Monster Movement.?? I went through quite a few of the recipes and thought…looks interesting.?? So tonight I decided to make a Green Monster for dinner.?? Not too shabby.?? I am already thinking about ways to tweak the recipe just a little to better suit my taste buds.?? This is the version you are seeing.
??
Blueberry-Banana Green Monster
Ingredients:
  • 2-3 cups organic spinach
  • 1-1.25 cups milk (your choice of cow???s milk, soy, hemp, almond, rice, etc)
  • 1 tablespoon flax (optional)
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • ice
I made two MINOR changes.?? 1.) I now use Chia seed instead of flax. 2.) I omitted the ice because I very easily get cold and didn’t want to shiver while consuming my dinner.

Redbud Wren Roost

4_12a_10

After working in the garden all week, I have heard and seen many birds,
but not the wrens.
Looking up in our old Redbud, I remembered that it was time to clean out
and hang their home.
The Redbud is nearing the end of its life, but it still plays an
important role in providing us with a window view to the busy summer
wrens.

A Moment in Time ~ 1930’s

4_11_10

Ever since I had seen the Gallery of Shifting Scenes, I knew there was a
picture in our future…

of the past.

This photograph was taken in the 1930’s and was loaned to me to copy by
the daughter of the couple sitting on the porch.
He was a mailman and she was a local seamstress.

When refinishing an upstairs bedroom, and tearing up several layers of
linoleum, we found hundreds of straight pins where her sewing machine
must have been placed between the windows.

And I often find things as I dig in the garden each spring.

It is in their memory I hope to be a good caretaker of their home and
gardens.
